Welcome to Dr. Koppikar’s Foundation For Homoeopathy

Dr. Koppikar’s Foundation For Homoeopathy is an NGO dedicating itself to the service of mankind through the science of homoeopathy. It was the dream of Dr S P Koppikar - a Doyen in the field of Homeopathy and recognised internationally, to reach homoeopathy to every home . It has been a humble attempt by some of the dedicated Homeopathic physicians of Chennai to follow his footsteps & it is with this aim that Koppikar’s Foundation for Homoeopathy was born. The Foundation is run by contributions which are exempt under 80G .

Foundation has conducted CMEs for doctors to keep them aligned with the latest medical developments as well as conducted camps for the masses . It has also released first aid books in English and Tamil and has distributed first aid homeopathic medicine kits .Recently the foundation ran a successful dengue prevention program with free distribution of medicine and pamphlets for vector control covering 80,000 people.

About Dr.SPK

Dr. Shankarao Pandurang Koppikar, fondly known as Dr. Koppikar, Born on 12th April 1915. He started his career in 1937 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. A pioneer in propagating and popularizing the virtues of this natural and unique stream of medicine in Tamil Nadu, he was one of the most experienced, renowned and respected homeopathic physician and an extremely busy practioner with a global clientele.

Gold Medalist from Bengal Allen Homoeopathic Medical College, Calcutta, Dr Koppikar was instrumental in getting homoeopathy recognized in Tamil Nadu and also establishing homoeopathic Medical colleges. He held various positions as President of Tamil Nadu Homoeopathy Medical Council, Member – Central Council of Homoeopathy, Government of India, Scientific Advisory Committee member of Central Council of Research in Homoeopathy. Served as Chief Editor Homoeopathic Heritage International, New Delhi.

He has received various Awards and held positions as Senate Member- Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Member- Asian Homoeopathic Medical League, Founder and Ex. President- Tamil Nadu Qualified Homoeopathic Doctors’ Association. HERF Award of the Homoeopathic Education and Research Foundation at Delhi – 1984, B. Jain International Award in Homoeopathy with Gold Medal – 1993. Central Council Silver Jubilee Honoraria award – 1998. Life Time Achievement Award by Karnataka Qualified Homoeopathic Doctors’ Association – 2000.

He has written a book titled "Koppikar's clinical experiences of 70 years in homoeopathy" in English which has been the staple for all young homoeopaths. It has been admired by doctors all over the world. Throughout the book Dr. Koppikar references many learned doctors and their obscure invaluable writings. We get to see the other side of him in his autobiography “Serendipity” which was published in October 2007, and its Tamil version, in April 2010.

He served tirelessly for the welfare of his patients and treated them with utmost empathy. He attended to the patients’ needs and phone calls even at midnight. His highest priority were patients and charity, his needs came only second to it.

He lived as a simple man and served as a great doctor until his very end came on 15th April ,2008.

While the world lost a legend, Dr P.V.V, DR ALEEM, DR. JAYESH AND DR. KUSHALI keep his spirit and passion alive through this foundation.
